KARATE1 PREMIER ISTANBUL (TURKEY)

For the fifth time, Turkish Karate hosted the Istanbul Open (Karate1 Premier League). This event has been held in Hidayet Turkoglu Sport Hall on September 5th and 6th 2015. This competition was the first tournament on new season and Karate1 ranking started new by this first event of Karate1 season.

The tournament hosted 521 athletes from 47 countries (Azerbaijan, Fyr of Macedonia, Georgia, Italy, Morocco, Russian, Sweden, Iran, France, …) to test themselves on the tatami of Istanbul.

Many of top athletes, such as Ozcelik Serap (World & European female kumite -50kg Champion – Turkey), Zaretska Iryna (European Games female Kumite -68kg champion – Azerbaijan), Sandra Sanchez (European kata female Champion – Spain) have confirmed their confidence and finish on the podium of this tournament.

Concerning the classification of nations, Turkey is the first nation to counter with 8 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 9 bronze medals for a total of 21 medals. Egypt ranks second (1/1/1), followed by FYR of Macedonia (1/1/1).
