KARATE1 PREMIER COBURG (GERMANY): THE SECOND TOURNAMENT ON NEW KARATE1 SEASON

For the first time, German hosted German Karate1 Premier League Open on Coburg. This event has been held in HUK Coburg Arena on September 26th and 27th 2015. It is the second Karate1 of this new season after Istanbul.

The tournament hosted 719 athletes from 55 countries (France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Brazil, Australia, Spain, Italy, Poland …) to test themselves on the tatami of Coburg.

Many of top athletes, such as Ilja Smorguner (World Vice-Champion Champion 2014 – Germany), Lucie Ignace (World/European female Kumite -55kg champion – France) and Harspataki Gabor (European U21 Kumite -75kg – Hungary) have confirmed their confidence and finish on the podium of this tournament. Many surprises have messed ranking and status of some athletes champions (in kata for example). Some U21 competitors were coming prepare the next Cadet/ Junior / U21 Championship in November (Jakarta).

Concerning the classification of nations, France is the first nation to counter with 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 8 bronze medals for a total of 15 medals. Germany ranks second (3/2/3), followed by Hong Kong (2/1/0).
