RESULTS OF KARATE1 PREMIER LEAGUE SÃO PAULO 2015

For the first time, Karate1 Premier League Brazil has been held in São Paulo on May 30th and 31st 2015. This competition was the first tournament on American continent.

 The tournament hosted 400 athletes from 26 countries (Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Peru, USA, Malaysia, Iran, France, …) to test themselves on the tatami of São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo.

 Several national delegations came to Brazil to complete their preparation for the next Toronto 2015 Pan American Games (23-25 July 2015).

 Many of top athletes, such as Douglas Brose (2x male kumite -60kg Champion), Ana Josefa Villanueva (Dominican republic – 3rd world), Sanchez Jaime Sandra (European kata female Champion – Spain) have confirmed their confidence and finish on the podium of this tournament. But also a few surprises like Tze Wai Leong (Malaysia) in kata or Merino Jorge (Salvador).

 Concerning the classification of nations, Brazil is the first nation to counter with 7 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 15 bronze medals for a total of 25 medals. Dominican Republic ranks second (2/3/1), followed by Canada (1/0/2).
