NEW AMBASSADOR TO TOKYO 2020: XENOU GEOGIA-ARCHONTIA

With the support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Japan , Xenou Geogia-Archontia became ambassador for the campaign Karate2020 (promotional campaign for the participation of karate in the Olympic Games in 2020 in Tokyo). The certificate was given from the President Mr. Takashi Sasagawa, Japan Karate Federation. She will be in charge of promoting Karate2020 campaign internationally and across the country under the supervision of the champion Rika Usami.

Born June 10, 1997 in Greece, she studied languages (English and German) and practice various sports such as swimming and especially karate.

In December 2009, she was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma. After surgery to remove a portion of the intestine, she receives a therapy against cancer. Despite this, she continues karate.

Having seen the performance of Rika Usami at Paris Open in 2012, she decided to train kata. Karate helps to overcome her illness. She became national gold champion in Greece on 2006, 2007 and 2008 (she got ill). She became again gold national champion every year from 2010 to 2014. She obtained bronze medal in World Championships Cadet/Junior Guadalajara (Spain), 2013 Kata team (14-17 years) and, the same year, had also bronze medal in the European Championship cadet/junior team kata in Konya Turkey.
